What is a save the date?
A save the date is a short announcement you send once your date is locked in but before the full invitation is ready. It gets your date into everyone's calendar early — especially helpful for interstate guests booking flights and accommodation.
How far ahead should I send a save the date?
For weddings, most Australian couples send a save the date six to twelve months ahead, then the formal invitation about eight to ten weeks before the day. For smaller celebrations, four to eight weeks ahead is plenty.
Do guests RSVP to a save the date?
No. A save the date has no RSVP form and no reply deadline — there's no yes or no pressure. Instead, guests get an “add to calendar” button and can download a copy to keep. RSVPs are collected later on your full invitation.
Do I need the venue booked first?
No. You only need the date. You can leave the venue blank or write the town or region, and add the full details on the invitation you send later.
Is a digital save the date free?

Can I send the real invitation to the same guest list later?
